Politics, politicians dominate news

New Year’s Day 2006 came in with a roar as heavy rains and strong winds felled trees throughout the city. It was much the same throughout the year in politics, ups and downs and jumbled expectations—problems for the old mayor and a big change of scene with a new one. Elections brought changes within Willow Glen too with a new council member scheduled to take a seat after a March run-off election.
There was a long, very hot heat wave along with some bitter cold weather—for Californians—in the late fall and a dusting of snow on the East Hills in February, but other things didn’t change. Some Read more...

| Breaking ground for new Willow Glen library
Demolition scheduled for February

A star-studded cast of city officials came out on Saturday, Dec. 2 to discuss the new Willow Glen branch library and break ground. At least 75 community members and library officials joined them to witness the beginning of the new branch and take part in its inception, as they had been part of the library before its September closure.
