Pumpkin Patch Boutique scheduled for Oct. 8

The ladies of the San Jose Auxiliary benefiting Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital will hold their 33rd annual Pumpkin Patch Boutique on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The benefit will offer antiques, collectibles, jewelry, boutique items, used and rare books, flowers, plants and crafts, homemade baked goods and live music. Lunch, for a nominal donation, will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Willow Glen homecoming community carnival and craft fair

All local crafters are invited to have a booth at Willow Glen’s homecoming community carnival and craft fair. The fair, which will be adjacent to the football field, runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will begin with Willow Glen High’s annual homecoming parade down Lincoln Avenue. The parade will feature all the local elementary schools.

The carnival will house games. Local elementary schools also will participate in the fair. If you or your child’s school would like to participate or help with the committee or open a craft booth, contact Teri Kane at tkbk@mac.com.


St. Christopher’s holds annual three-day carnival

St. Christopher’s Church held its 47th annual carnival June 10, 11 and 12 in the back parking lot of the church and school. This year, more than 15,000 people attended the event, which featured rides, games, a silent auction, a raffle and lots and lots of delicious food. The Hitmen played Friday and Saturday nights and Negative Reaction played on Sunday. Among the activities was a midway with rides, shown above, while Carina Piazza, a 7-year-old second grader at St. Christopher School climbs to the top of the wall for first time. Chairman Joe Gomes noted that a number of families and companies helped sponsor the event. Look for the carnival, which helps fund athletic events at the school, next year in early June.


Vasona light rail extension opening

Join Supervisor Jim Beall to celebrate the opening of the Vasona Light Rail extension on Friday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Campbell. Free light rail rides and food.
