Fuller Park opens

A good-sized crowd joined Mayor Ron Gonzales, Vice Mayor Cindy Chavez and District 6 City Councilmember Ken Yeager for the opening of Fuller Park on May 6. Located on Fuller Avenue between Bird and Provost, the new 1.6-acre park is a collaboration among the city, the San Jose Redevelopment Agency, the Greater Gardner Coalition and the North Willow Glen Neighborhood Association. Most of the property is owned by the city, but Caltrain owns a portion. Yeager worked with the Caltrain staff to obtain a long-term lease. The Redevelopment Agency invested $746,000 toward the design and construction of the park, which features new landscaping, irrigation, a bocce ball court (pictured, inset) and a horseshoe pit. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services managed construction efforts.
