Stabbing
Branham/Almaden
A stabbing occurred in the parking area next to the Jack in the Box restaurant at Almaden and Branham. The victim was stabbed in the back once by the suspect during an altercation. The victim was treated at Santa Teresa Kaiser for the non-life-threatening wound.

Assault with a deadly weapon
2500 block of Bascom Avenue
The victim was sitting in a parked vehicle when the unknown suspect approached him and began striking him and the vehicle with a tire iron. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and is outstanding. The victim sustained a minor injury to his arm.

Coroner’s case
1000 block of Hazelwood Avenue
Patrol units responded to a welfare check of an 86-year-old female who had not been seen for four to five days. The elderly female was found deceased in her residence, with no foul play evident. The victim had multiple medical conditions.

Possession of cocaine, violation of parole, under the influence of meth
Bird Avenue/Willow Street
Day shift Gang Cars arrested four subjects at two traffic stops. Two subjects were arrested for being under the influence of methamphetamine. A “norteno” parolee and his wife were also arrested for possession of rock cocaine and violation of parole. Eight additional suspected gang members were further investigated.

False imprisonment/kidnapping
Foxworthy/Union
The 16-year-old female victim got in a car with a former boyfriend. The 18-year-old former boyfriend began driving and would not let the victim exit the car. The victim was finally able to escape and the police were called. The victim was not injured. The suspect was located and booked into county jail.

4300 block Leigh Avenue
The victim reported hearing a male voice yelling racial slurs threatening to come back later. A single egg was thrown at her front door. No suspects have been identified.

Coroner’s case
Glen Eyre Avenue
A roommate discovered the 37 year-old male victim unconscious and not breathing. SJFD and paramedics arrived and attempted first aid. The victim was pronounced dead. The victim had a history of intravenous drug abuse. The investigation revealed recent intravenous drug use that possibly caused his death. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office removed the deceased victim.

700 block of Ironwood Drive
An 85-year-old female was found dead in her apartment by family members. The death appears to be of natural causes. The coroner released the body.

Selective enforcement (radar)
Branham Lane and Jarvis Avenue
The District Adam team conducted radar enforcement at the above location. The team made contact with 42 motorists, issuing 13 citations for unsafe speed and 29 warnings for lesser speeds. Speeds ranged from 47 mph to 58 mph in a 35-mph zone.

The Community Services Anti-Tobacco Program conducted 24 controlled buys resulting in three citations for 308(a) P.C.-Sales of Tobacco To a Minor at these locations.

On 4-14-04 between 1600-2200 hours, the Community Services Anti-Tobacco Program conducted 75 controlled buys resulting in two citations for 308 (a) P.C.-Sales of Tobacco to a Minor at these locations.

Suspicious persons with handguns
1774 Foxworthy, The Evangelical Baptist Church
Officers responded to a report by witnesses of two male teens wearing black ski masks and carrying black handguns that appeared real but could possibly be toys. Upon arrival, officers found a teen church youth group playing “cops and robbers” with paint ball guns that were replicas of 9mm Sig Saur semi-automatic handguns. The pastor and youth group leader were contacted and advised to cease and desist the activity until a suitable location outside the view of public was found.

Felony battery
1500 block of San Andreas Avenue
The 30-year-old victim was involved in an argument with the suspect when the suspect punched the victim in the face. The victim fell, hitting his head on the sidewalk causing a serious head injury. The victim was transported to VMC where he is in a coma. The suspect was arrested and booked.

Selective enforcement
Various Schools
The District Adam team conducted enforcement at Pioneer High, Darmouth Middle and Simonds Elementary schools in cooperation with “Safe Passage Week.” The team made contact with 31 parent/motorists issuing 16 citations and 15 warnings for lesser violations. During the last four mornings, officers worked 10 District Adam schools (two high schools, four middle schools and four elementary schools). Contact was made with 202 drivers issuing 28 citations and 174 educational warnings for the week.

1500 block of Edgewood Way
A citizen discovered what appeared to be a destructive device near Hicks Avenue and Edgewood Way. The Bomb Squad responded, rendered it safe and collected the evidence.

Selective enforcement
Branham/Jarvis
The District Adam team conducted radar enforcement at Branham/Jarvis. The team made contact with 49 commuting motorists. Fourteen citations were issued for unsafe speed (low speed of 47 mph/high speed of 62 mph) and 33 warnings were issued for lesser speeds.

Possession of dangerous concealed weapons
Willow Glen High School
As school was letting out, school pay job officers and a San Jose Police officer observed a suspect vehicle with four juvenile male occupants cruising slowly by the school. When the officers stopped, the vehicle and conducted an investigation, they discovered a metal baseball bat, a knife with a 12-inch blade and a golf iron concealed in the vehicle. The driver was arrested, occupants were field interviewed, weapons were seized as evidence and the vehicle was impounded.

Auto versus pedestrian with serious injury
Hillsdale Avenue/Gardendale Drive
On April 29 at approximately 2350 hours, an auto versus pedestrian accident occurred at Hillsdale Avenue and Gardendale Drive. A 26-year-old male was in the number two lane of Hillsdale and was hit by a vehicle being driven by an adult male. The victim was transported to VMC via ambulance. The victim suffered from serious trauma to the head and a broken foot. The victim was admitted to the hospital in serious condition but is stable. The driver was released following the investigation.
